2020 Workshops & Events:

Saturday, September 19, from 1 PM to 4:30 PM: Traditional Coconut Weaving
Learn to work with lau niu (coconut leaves): weave, pattern, shaping, and form. Participants will weave a lei poʻo (head lei), peʻahi (fan), and a hanging ʻumeke (basket) with cultural practitioners, Uʻi Kahue and Mario Siatris. Cost: $65, or $40 for current garden members. Email info@mnbg.org for reservations.

Arbor Day Garden Expo & Tree Giveaway
The Arbor Day Garden Expo & Tree Giveaway is an extended event in 2020! In partnership with Maui Electric Company and Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program, Maui Nui Botanical Gardens and the Maui Association of Landscape Professionals will host tree and plant care lectures and webinars, an Artscapes contest and exhibition, plant sales, and a giveaway of more than 1,000 Hawaiian trees.

Wednesday, November 4 – Friday, November 6:
Learn about residential tree care and speak with the experts about everything trees and plants. Enter the Artscapes contest or enjoy the exhibition. Get advice on which tree is right for your area of residence and choose your ticket for a free native tree to be distributed on Saturday, November 7. Free trees are one per person, any age.

Saturday, November 7, 9 am to 4 pm:
Bring your new plant knowledge and free tree ticket to our socially distanced, drive-through native Hawaiian tree giveaway sponsored by Maui Electric Company, at the War Memorial Gym Parking Lot. For event information, go to www.ArborDayExpo.com or call 249-2798.

Saturday, December 5, from 9 AM to 12 PM: Living Wreath Making with Native Plants
Native plants provide more than just food and habitat for wildlife: they also provide great beauty all year long! Learn to make a living wreath from Native Hawaiian Plants in time for the Holidays with MNBG Executive Director, Tamara Sherrill and ‘ohana. Cost: $50, or $25 for current garden members. Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Closed occasionally for inclement weather and Hawaii State Holidays.
