Volunteer at MNBG

If you love working with native plants, you will love the Weed & Pot Club! This volunteer gardening group meets every Wednesday morning, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Spend your morning helping the Gardens thrive through weeding and propagation. Come prepared to work with covered shoes and gardening attire.

Location: Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, 150 Kanaloa Ave., Kahului. Across from the War Memorial Stadium; parking available on the street. 

Days/times: Every Wednesday from 8:30 to 10:30 am, rain or shine, except State Holidays.

Type of service: Work may include weeding, planting, and other garden and nursery maintenance activities. No power tools are used. Tools, gloves, and drinks are provided.

What to bring: Please wear covered shoes (no sandals) and clothes that can get dirty and allow for freedom of movement. Be prepared for sun and other inclement weather, and bring a refillable water bottle.

COVID protocols: All volunteering will take place outdoors and follow all COVID-19 regulations under the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the County of Maui, and State of Hawai‘i. Masks are optional.

Limitations: Weed and Pot Club welcomes high school age and older participants without an adult chaperone, as long as they bring this waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Ages 8 to high school may participate with one adult chaperone per child. Volunteers must be able to get close to the ground (stools and knee pads are available), be able to grip and pull weeds, and be able to walk unassisted. Reasonable accommodations can be made for those needing assistance.
